Radiology - Echo Tech Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Echo Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Not specified Certifications: Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or ARDMS registered cardiac sonographer or registry eligible, and CPR required Must-Have: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Vascular/Echocardiography or an equivalent combination of education and experience Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data for diagnosis. Performs stress echos, transesophageal echo, 2-D echo with M-mode, color flow, and cardiac doppler. Records procedure data in patient charts and electronic medical record systems. Immediately informs physicians of life-threatening test results. Performs cleaning and disinfection of cardiology equipment and accessories. Conducts related duties, including supply inventory and clerical work. Transports patients to and from the department as needed. Satisfies phone inquiries or routes inquiries to proper staff members. Assists cardiovascular staff and logs procedures for billing purposes. Participates in preparation and presentation of department meetings and quality improvement programs. Supervises and instructs students and precepts new employees. Engages in quality improvement activities and evaluations. Enhances the practice of family-centered care and provides individualized customer focus. Acts as a representative responsible for positive interactions and diffusing negative situations. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities through collaborative methodologies. Ensures patient rights are respected while adhering to privacy guidelines. Performs CPR as needed and maintains a clean work area. Fulfills other assigned duties as necessary. Successfully completes competencies for this position, including rhythm recognition.
