MEDICAL SCHEDULER

Location: Columbia, MD

Pay: $15.00 - $21.00/hour

Work Environment

Work is performed in a professional healthcare office environment with frequent interaction with patients, visitors, providers, and staff. This position requires sitting for extended periods, frequent telephone use, and computer-based work in a fast-paced call center setting.

• 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

• On-site position

Compensation and Benefits

Duration: 4-Month Contract-to-Hire

About the Role

We are seeking a Medical Scheduler to support a busy healthcare practice by managing a high volume of patient communications and appointment scheduling activities. This role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced medical environment while maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle 60-100 inbound patient calls daily

• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments

• Process referrals and prescription refill requests

• Verify patient registration and insurance information

• Assist with billing-related inquiries and account collection processes

• Answer incoming calls and direct requests to the appropriate provider or department

• Support patient check-in and check-out activities as needed

• Maintain accurate patient information within the EMR system

• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality

• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors

• Assist other office personnel with administrative duties as needed

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting

• Previous call center or high-volume phone experience preferred

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Experience working in a fast-paced medical environment

• Proficient computer and data entry skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD.

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $21.00/hr.
