Sr. Manufacturing Systems Engineer (Automation Engineer)

Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer role at Amgen focused on automation system reliability, control system design, and digital transformation of manufacturing systems. Position emphasizes Rockwell and AVEVA Wonderware platforms, GMP compliance, and operational excellence in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Serve as subject matter expert in manufacturing systems, digital technologies, and automation reliability
- Lead implementation and support of MES, SCADA, PLC integration and manufacturing IT Tier systems
- Develop system documentation including user requirements, design specifications, and test plans
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolution with IT and vendor support teams
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and stay informed on emerging manufacturing technologies
Requirements
- Doctorate in Engineering, or Master's in Engineering with 2 years automation experience, or Bachelor's in Engineering with 4 years automation experience
- Demonstrated experience with AVEVA Wonderware Intouch and Rockwell Automation PLC/SCADA platforms
- Knowledge of GMP compliance, 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5, and computerized system validation
- Experience designing, configuring, installing, and commissioning automation systems in regulated environments
- Understanding of bioprocess unit operations including bioreactors, chromatography, filtration, and utilities
- Proficiency with system integration protocols including OPC, Profibus, DeviceNet, and Ethernet/IP
