Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and record initial patient assessments, establishing care priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized, measurable plans of care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care
• Reassess patients systematically to identify trends and make comprehensive nursing decisions, modifying the plan of care as needed
• Implement and document timely interventions, perform Point of Care testing, and participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning
• Coordinate team assignments, delegate unit work appropriately, and serve as a resource to staff, physicians, and visitors
• Float to other departments as needed; fulfill 1-2 weekend 24-hour call shifts and 1-2 on-call nights per week, with charge duties as needed

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license required
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• ACLS Certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Operating Room / Surgical nursing
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR

• Experience functioning in a charge nurse capacity
• Strong communication and human relations skills that promote teamwork and a positive work environment
• Demonstrated flexibility adapting to changes in work environment or schedule
