The Role Mach Energetics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to own the industrialization of our products for high-rate production. In this role, you will work closely with the mechanical design and production teams to develop processes, tooling, and build documentation that ensure builds are repeatable, cost-effective, and meet stringent quality standards. This role is focused on building at scale—delivering reliable hardware every time. Key Responsibilities Fully own production processes from build readiness through steady-state manufacturing. Design and qualify manufacturing equipment, fixtures, tools, and jigs to enable repeatable builds. Develop, document, and release controlled work instructions and quality gates to ensure repeatability and reliability. Drive the optimization of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Assembly processes, focusing on content reduction, assembly simplification, and built-in quality. Provide daily production support and implement SPC, PFMEA, and root cause corrective action for nonconformances. Travel to machine suppliers and contract manufacturers to oversee equipment bring-up and manufacturing trials. Partner with technicians to train, enforce standard work, and improve safety/ergonomics. Work with supply chain to ensure rate-capable vendors and part availability. Drive continuous improvement in cycle time, yield, and cost. Required Qualifications Experience with soft goods / flexible structures (e.g., fabrics, membranes, composites, inflatables, parachutes, sails, balloons, etc.) 1+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on designing and prototyping mechanical systems (can be in a professional, hobby or academic setting) Strong skills in 3D modeling and CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, etc.) for mechanical design and iteration. Experience with programming languages (e.g. python, MATLAB, C++) for analytical modeling, simulation and engineering problem-solving. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Demonstrated experience owning hands-on, end-to-end hardware development efforts (e.g., FSAE, DBF, Rocket Team, or similar projects). Preferred Qualifications Background in high-altitude or atmospheric systems. Familiarity with textile engineering, coatings, or permeability/diffusion modeling. Experience designing for extreme environments (thermal, UV, pressure cycling). Knowledge of seaming, bonding, and joining techniques (RF welding, heat sealing, adhesives, stitching) and their structural implications. Experience modeling or testing membrane structures under load, including wrinkling, creep, and long-term deformation Familiarity with coatings and barrier layers, including permeability, gas retention, and environmental degradation (UV, moisture, temperature cycling) Disclosures This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Actual salary offers may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and training, critical skills, and business considerations.
