Baxter seeks a Research Scientist I specializing in extractables and leachables analysis to lead analytical studies supporting product development. The role involves method development, instrumental analysis, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration in the Round Lake, Illinois R&D laboratory.

Responsibilities

Lead extractables and leachables studies including method development, validation, and lifecycle support
Perform advanced chemical and impurity analyses using LC, GC, ICP, MS, and related techniques
Partner with Regulatory, Toxicology, Quality, and Manufacturing teams on product development and compliance
Investigate out-of-specification and out-of-trend results using root cause analysis and scientific judgment
Author analytical protocols, validation reports, SOPs, and technical documentation in compliance with cGxP requirements

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field with 5+ years analytical chemistry experience
Hands-on expertise in GC/MS, LC/MS, ICP, and wet chemistry techniques
Proven experience with analytical method development, validation, and transfer in regulated settings
Strong understanding of ICH, USP, and cGxP regulatory requirements
Proficiency with analytical software platforms such as MassHunter, Empower, or Chromeleon
Demonstrated ability to design experiments, troubleshoot challenges, and analyze complex data

Compensation: $104,000-$143,000 base annually
