Cook's Helper

Position: Cook's Helper Location: TBD Reports to: Head Cook / Chef Classification: Classified Work year: School Term Salary: Range 3

Summary or Purpose: To provide for the clean and safe operation of the kitchen.

Qualification Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalency Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed Ability to work with students and adults Team player and ability to coordinate with the kitchen staff Reliable Requires Food Workers Card Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities: Preparation of milk, salad bar condiments and fruit daily. Assist in counter set up and meal service. Set up tables, napkins and utensils before each meal. Wipe down and sanitize steam table after every meal. Assist in sanitation of kitchen areas and equipment. Daily mop kitchen floors and under all equipment, bathroom, storeroom, hallway, and behind doors. Follow dishwasher procedures for set up and operation before and after each meal. De-lime weekly. Wash all pots, pans, utensils, and glassware. Keep all food preparation areas clean. Assist with implementing USDA Meal patterns. Follow procedures of required guidelines for HACCP program. Preparation of meal in absence of other cooks. Work after normal hours for sport meal weekends. Receive food from USDA and by pass mail during or after normal working hours. Assist co-workers with their duties as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability focus.

Environmental Conditions: While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to travel to other cities around the state. The employee must be willing and able to fly in small and large commuter planes. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
