This role leads large-scale data center construction projects from inception through closeout, with full accountability for safety, schedule, cost, quality, and contract compliance. The Data Center Project Manager develops and implements project controls and procedures, oversees financial performance, and ensures that all project activities align with contract requirements. This position provides strong leadership to project teams, manages subcontractors and trade partners, and drives successful delivery of complex, high-value projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop the project safety plan in collaboration with corporate safety and provide clear jobsite leadership to ensure safe work practices.
- Establish and implement project controls and procedures to manage complex project requirements and proactively mitigate high-risk contractual items.
- Manage the project financial forecast, notice provisions, and billings to meet contract requirements, and take corrective action when project vitals deviate from plan.
- Create and manage a project-specific quality plan aligned with the owner contract and contract documents, and support its execution throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive project closeout plan in alignment with contract documents and lead the team through successful project turnover.
- Provide leadership and motivation to the project team while maintaining a positive work environment, including direct supervision of project administration, project superintendents, and engineers.
- Establish operational priorities for the field and office teams to ensure alignment with project goals and milestones.
- Develop the subcontracting strategy and review, write, and refine scopes of work and other deliverables to ensure the integrity of the buyout process.
- Implement and enforce all aspects of contracts and lead the development and execution of risk mitigation plans.
- Prepare draft contracts, agreements, and purchase orders to support timely procurement and project execution.
- Assume accountability for insurance and bond enrollment for the project and manage the compliance process for trade contractors.
- Lead the development of the project estimate and coordinate with the project team and estimating team to meet all contractual obligations.
- Lead project constructability and coordination reviews to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact the field.
- Create and manage a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule for large and complex projects and identify potential schedule impacts early.
- Draft and implement prevention and mitigation plans to address schedule risks and maintain project milestones.
- Oversee project controls, including cost control, change orders, RFIs, and cost analysis, to ensure accurate and timely project reporting.
- Collaborate with clients, superintendents, and internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment on project objectives.
- Support and enforce safety, quality, and performance expectations with all subcontractors and trade partners on site.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or an engineering discipline.
- Experience independently running construction projects with a value of $30 million or more.
- Strong experience in project controls, including scheduling, cost control, and project reporting.
- Experience with change order management and Request for Information (RFI) processes.
- Proficiency in cost analysis and financial forecasting for construction projects.
- Experience working with or for a general contractor on data center projects.
- Experience working within a global construction or engineering organization.
- Familiarity with project control plans and their implementation on large projects.
- Experience leading constructability and coordination reviews for complex facilities.
- Ability to develop subcontracting strategies and manage the full buyout process.
- Experience preparing draft contracts, agreements, and purchase orders.
- Ability to create and manage CPM schedules for large and complex projects.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $90.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
