Job Summary and Qualifications Position Type: PRN (8:00am – 4:30pm; covers weekdays and weekends as needed). Role Overview: The Occupational Therapist provides high‑quality, patient‑centered care by managing the complete occupational therapeutic process for an assigned group of patients, in coordination with physicians and the care team. Responsibilities include completing patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and focusing on goal achievement, patient engagement, and positive patient experience. The Occupational Therapist may also provide or direct a majority of the patient’s physical therapy to support continuity of care during home health and other settings. Responsibilities Provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics. Assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status. Participate in patient placement and in the development of the total plan of care. Provide purposeful and skilled interaction care. Use procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care. Observe and report patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in patient’s condition. Communicate pertinent payor needs/requirements to physician, treatment team, patient and patient’s family in a timely manner. Prioritize caseload, determine daily staffing needs and coordinate assignments/handoffs. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school at the bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level in Occupational Therapy. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (ROT). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. One year of acute‑care hospital experience with a cardiovascular background.
