About the Role:Grade Level (for internal use):12Job DescriptionThe Team:We are looking for a highly self-motivated hands-on Database Engineer who will focus on our database infrastructure estate and tune database queries within our Enterprise Solutions division. Our team manages and optimizes enterprise-scale database systems that support critical business operations across multiple cloud and on-premises environments. Operating in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we value technical excellence, proactive problem-solving, and continuous learning as we transform and harmonize our infrastructure into a unified platform.Responsibilities and Impact:Administer and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases hosted on cloud platforms with 24/7 production support capabilitiesPerform database installations, patching, upgrades, and configure high-availability deployments including multi-AZ configurations and read replicasTune SQL queries and stored procedures for optimal performance while implementing database partitioning, compression, and indexing strategiesCollaborate closely with developers to design optimized database schemas and support application teams in writing efficient queries and stored proceduresConduct execution plan analysis and implement query optimizations using performance monitoring tools and insights platformsImplement comprehensive security frameworks including encryption for data at rest and in transit, access controls, and compliance with organizational security standardsCompensation/Benefits Information:(This section is only applicable to US candidates)S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. For more information on the benefits we provide to our employees, please click here.What We're Looking For:Basic Required Qualifications:10-12+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with at least 2+ years in a lead or senior roleStrong expertise in MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL administrationProven experience with database performance tuning and query optimizationHands-on experience with backup, recovery, replication, and high availability solutionsStrong understanding of database security, auditing, and compliance best practicesExperience with cloud database migration strategies and performance tuning best practices across major cloud platformsAdditional Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Microsoft SQL Server administrationKnowledge of automation and scripting (Shell, Python, Ansible, etc.)Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesExperience supporting large-scale, mission-critical systemsRight to Work Requirements:This role is limited to persons with the indefinite right to work in the United StatesLocation: This location requires a person to work a hybrid schedule from our Dallas, TX location.Flexible Working:We pride ourselves on our agility and diversity, and we welcome requests to work flexibly.
