DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Sony Corporation of America (SCA)is seekinga Ventures Research Intern within the Sony Ventures team. As the global corporate Venture Capital (VC) arm of Sony, Sony Ventures is actively investing across startups around the world, across multiple technology sectors. Since starting to invest in 2016, Sony Ventures has made over 180 investments and manages multiple investment vehicles for both early-stage and growth-stage investments. In addition to its core investment activities, Sony Ventures is also the front-facing interface forstartupspartnerships & collaboration for the entire Sony Group.

POSITION SUMMARY

As Sony Ventures is ramping up its investmentsacross multiple emerging technology sectors,the team is looking for a driven and passionatecollege student internto join the investment team. Duties will includesupport with market research, technology & businessanalysisand Due Diligence. This would be an exciting opportunity to geta hands-on experience in aVenturefund, alongside gaining experience to work in a large multinational technology conglomerate such as Sony.

This position will be on a Hybrid schedule with2-3days per week in theSan Mateooffice.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create landscape maps related to specific innovations & key players aroundspecific subsectors within Climateand/orEnterprise/AI.

• Continuously review news/mediaandharnessAI toolsformonitoringnew developments - both in terms of emerging companies and established players. Summarize those ina timelyand actionable manner to both the SIF and broader Sony teams.

• Contribute to technologyevaluationof the startups that Sony Ventures is considering, notably in terms ofidentifyingpotential uniqueness (or lack of it) and related players, as a contributor to some of the Due Diligence steps.

• Attend calls/meetings with startups and support the planning of investment activities with them - such as memos,presentation preparation,nextstepsplanning etc.

• Participate in broader Sony Ventures activities aroundportfolio management, portfolio value-up... as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

Your qualifications and experience should include:

• Engineering degree (Bachelor'sat least, aMaster'sdegree preferred) froma top-tier university. Ideally in a technologyfield(e.g.physics,electrical engineering,computer science,materials science, bioengineering, environmental systems...).

• Ability to synthesize large volumesof information to extract key insights and communicate those in a relevant manner.

• Passion fornew technology.

• Able to multitask and handle multipleprojects with short deadlines.

• Thriving in a fast-paced environment.

• Ideally some basic finance/business acumen (around business models, innovation economics...)

The target hourly rate for this internship is $21.00 to $28.00 per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
