Sr. Mechanical Engineer - MEPPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC and MEP design efforts for municipal building projects. The role focuses on producing and reviewing mechanical system designs and calculations, coordinating with architects and stakeholders, and ensuring deliverables meet code, budget, and schedule requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills (FE exam, calculations, CAD/Revit) with proven experience on public-sector projects and effective communication and mentoring abilities.Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical design for municipal building projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and related MEP systems.Produce and review mechanical calculations, load analyses, equipment selections, and system schematics to meet performance and code requirements.Develop and coordinate detailed construction documents using CAD and Revit; prepare and update 2D and 3D deliverables.Create and respond to drawing markups and redlines using Bluebeam and other review tools; manage revisions and issue updated drawings.Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, contractors, and municipal clients to resolve design and constructability issues.Perform quality control and peer review of mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers; provide technical direction and review their work products.Support permitting and code compliance processes; prepare responses to plan review comments and construction RFIs.Participate in site visits, commissioning support, and construction administration to verify installation and performance of mechanical systems.Manage project tasks to meet schedule and budget targets, and communicate progress to project managers and clients.QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.(FE) exam passed (required).Minimum 7+ years of mechanical/MEP design experience, with demonstrated experience on municipal/public building projects.Proficient in CAD (AutoCAD) and Revit for mechanical systems modeling and documentation.Strong experience designing HVAC systems, performing load calculations, equipment selection, and energy analysis.Proficient with drawing markups and document review tools, particularly Bluebeam; comfortable producing and responding to redlines.Skilled at performing engineering calculations and preparing technical reports and specifications.Working knowledge of applicable building codes, ASHRAE standards, and local municipal requirements.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and municipal clients.Nice to have: EIT or PE certification and experience with Trane Trace (or similar HVAC energy simulation tools).BenefitsHealth/Dental/Vision/Life, PTO, Paid Holidays, Flexible Work Schedule, 401K
