Project Engineer

Location: Remote with occasional site travel Duration: Long term contract or contract to hire Pay Rate: $60-70/hour Position Summary Our client is seeking a Project Development Engineer to support the front‑end development and design of energy and infrastructure projects from concept through execution. This is an engineering‑first role focused on project design, scope development, technical coordination, and proposal support. The ideal candidate will be comfortable developing project scopes, reviewing drawings and one‑line diagrams, supporting equipment selection, and coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and clients. Experience with project management, construction management, or client‑facing business development is a plus, but the primary need is a strong engineer who can help shape projects before they move into execution. Key Responsibilities Support the technical development and design of projects from early concept through issued scope packages Develop project scopes, conceptual designs, technical narratives, and supporting design documentation Review and interpret single‑line diagrams, electrical drawings, P&IDs, layouts, and construction documents Assist with equipment selection, constructability input, estimating support, and technical problem solving Prepare or support development of scope packages, equipment lists, drawing markups, and procurement support documents Coordinate with internal teams, engineering partners, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to define project requirements and technical solutions Provide engineering support during project execution, including submittal review, scope clarification, and field issue support as needed Support client‑facing discussions, proposal development, and early‑stage solution development Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Energy, or related discipline strongly preferred Experience supporting energy, utility, industrial, infrastructure, MEP, renewable, or EPC/design‑build projects Strong ability to read and interpret single‑line diagrams, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents Experience with project design, scope development, front‑end engineering, estimating support, or project development Prior experience in project management, construction support, owner’s rep, EPC coordination, or technical business development is a plus Strong communication skills and ability to work across engineering, operations, field, and client stakeholders Ideal Background This role is best suited for an engineer who can own technical project development , while also supporting execution and client‑facing activities when needed.
