We are seeking a full-time experienced Bindery Equipment Operator. The right candidate for this role would have prior print shop production experience, is enthusiastic, able to work under pressure to make deadlines, has a keen attention to detail and is able to follow oral and written instructions.

Daily responsibilities will include operating cutters, folders, creasers, tabbers, inserters, score/perforating equipment and mailing equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for the assurance of quality finishing work, maintaining an organized in clean work environment, and final preparation of products for shipping and delivery. We are willing to train, but some print shop experience is required. Pay will commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties:

Performs any combination of following tasks as specified on work order/job tickets involved in binding printed material, and assembling related printed materials.

• Read, understand and follow work order instructions
• Cuts printed materials to size
• Punches holes in paper sheets, manually or by machine
• Fastens sheets, signatures, or other printed materials together, using hand or machine stapler, adjusts or tends machine that inserts wire or plastic binding strips into punched holes to fasten pages covers together
• Feeds covers, signatures and sheets into various machines for collating, stitching, trimming, folding, ruling, stapling, roughing, indexing, gluing and perforating operations
• Removes, stacks and packs printed material in various stages of completion
• Examines stitched, collated, bound and unbound publications to ascertain that pages are bound in numerical or folio order according to sample copy for defects such as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn, loose, uneven pages and loose uncut threads
• Inserts illustrated pages, extra sheets and collated sets into catalogs, periodicals, directories, pocket portfolios, or looseleaf binders and applies labels to envelopes or periodicals by hand or machine
• Stuffs, seals and stamps printed material for mailing
• Wraps product in plastic, using shrink-wrapping machine, packs products in boxes and tapes lids of boxes shut
• Keeps equipment clean, lubricated, and operable and calls for service when necessary (with approval of management)
• Follows all safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to proper use of PPE, safe ergonomic practices, and proper and safe handling of chemicals
• Other duties as assigned, including working where directed, be it on varying presses or in other departments.

• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy with highly developed multi-tasking and organization skills.
• Must work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing situations and customer requests
• Must be able to lift, carry, push & pull a maximum weight of 45 lbs.
• Position may require extended periods of walking, standing, kneeling, reaching & stooping
• Ability to tolerate being exposed to loud noises and moving machinery (PPE provided)
