Part Time - Substitute

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1. Must be at least 18 years of age2. Must have no criminal record or criminal charges pending3. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with liability insurance4. Must be able to speak, read, and write English5. Must have or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification6. Must have a clear TB and physical examination before the first day of employment7. Must have a high school diploma or GED8. Must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or be enrolled or willing to enroll in a CDAcredential program to be completed within 2 years9. Must have 6 months of experience working in childcare10. Must be skilled in data entry11. Must have computer skills - Microsoft Windows environment and Office suiteB. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Have a certificate of proficiency in child care development2. Be enrolled in a program leading to an Associate or Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education3. Be Bilingual - able or willing to learn to speak, read, and write English and Spanish4. Be a resident of Cameron or Willacy County5. Be a person sensitive to the needs of the poor and disadvantagedC. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Assists the Teacher with all regular Head Start classroom-related activities, and will serve temporarily asTeacher when required2. Assist the Teacher with home visits3. Performs related duties within the scope of Head Start as assigned by the Head Teacher4. Assists the Teacher in maintaining an 85% average daily attendance5. Assists the Teacher in maintaining the assigned enrollment quota6. Assists the Teacher in generating the assigned non-federal share (In-Kind)7. When necessary, will be expected to attend staff training through pre-service and in-service workshops8. Supports the efforts of Head Start families in the enhancement of their children's healthy well-being andacademic success9. Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor relative to program operations10. Works on weekends, holidays, and/or evenings on special assigned projects and/or tasks on requestof the Executive/Head Start DirectorD. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:1. Averages three hours of sitting, three hours of standing, and two hours of walking in a usual workday2. Requires the employee to occasionally crawl and twist in performing duties3. Needs to carry up to 50 pounds, occasionally4. Uses lower extremities frequently in simple/firm movement and balancing5. Maintains head/neck continuously in flexing movements and occasionally in static position &rotational/extension movements6. Needs appropriate or corrected vision, requires the ability to judge distance and space relationships,uses peripheral vision while eyes are fixed, uses eye adjustment in doing near point work, and requiresthe ability to identify and distinguish colors7. Does frequent speaking/hearing tasks with staff, co-workers, parents, and supervisors8. Performs work area surveys to prevent injuries or accidents9. Exposure to indifferent outdoor weather conditions (cold, heat, sun, rain, etc.)E. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:1. Accepts responsibility for the direction, control, and/or planning of job-related activities2. Communicates and works effectively with parents, community, staff, and immediate supervisor3. Works on repetitive duties according to set procedures with precision and thoroughness4.
