Sales Coordinator, Special Markets (Corporate & Premium Sales)

The Sales Coordinator in the Special Sales department supports two Corporate & Premium Sales Account Managers and the channel's Associate Director of Sales. This role provides administrative and sales support across a wide range of Corporate & Premium accounts for both print and digital products. Key account categories include literacy organizations, B2B wholesalers, travel and hospitality, consumer packaged goods, author events, community reading programs, and corporate partnerships.

This position plays an integral role in supporting bulk sales initiatives in which customers purchase books for promotional, educational, employee engagement, gifting, or community distribution purposes. The Sales Coordinator will assist with order management, title recommendations, sales presentations, and new business development outreach.

Responsibilities include processing and tracking purchase orders, maintaining departmental sales grids, coordinating customer communications, and creating title lists and sales presentations for both existing and prospective accounts. The coordinator will work closely with Simon & Schuster warehouse and supply chain teams to ensure orders are processed and shipped accurately and on schedule, while helping troubleshoot inventory or fulfillment issues as they arise. The Sales Coordinator will also collaborate on special projects designed to expand sales opportunities, including custom book programs, market research, outreach to prospective customers, and trend analysis across key industries and consumer categories.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with customer inquiries and providing support to resolve customer issues when necessary.
  • Processing and tracking customer purchase orders and communicate directly with accounts regarding order status and updates
  • Working with supply chain to ensure inventory availability and updating customers as necessary.
  • Handling sample requests for customers and managers
  • Supporting account managers with key account maintenance, inventory tracking, title presentations, and sales materials
  • Requesting pricing for reprints and special projects and working with managers on P&Ls and other required paperwork
  • Maintaining departmental order tracking grid
  • Assisting with market research, prospecting, and outreach efforts for new business opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively communicate with accounts and all levels of management
  • A general interest in books, reading, and consumer trends
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, expertise in Excel
