Heavy Diesel Mechanic - Maintain and Repair Heavy Equipment for Leading General Contractor Job Overview

- Schedule: Varying Start Times (Including Occasional Weekends)
- Perform scheduled maintenance and service equipment in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial trucks and heavy equipment
- Prioritize repairs based on safety concerns and operational needs
- Repair and maintain diesel engines, air brake systems, and electrical systems
- Perform preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
- Road test vehicles as needed to ensure proper functionality
- Inspect brake systems, steering components, and wheel bearings
- Operate hand and power tools including diagnostic and welding equipment
- Maintain repair documentation and communicate with management
- Assist with parts inventory and organization
- Follow safety procedures and report incidents
- Attend safety meetings
- Experience in diesel engine repair and fleet maintenance
- Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Experience with hydraulic systems, HVAC systems, and aftertreatment diagnostics
- Knowledge of transmissions, differentials, and brake systems
- Ability to work independently
- Physically able to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends
- CDL preferred
