Job Description Maintenance Technician (Mechanical/Electrical)

Portage, IN | $30–$40/hour | All Shifts Available

Overview

Join a growing food manufacturing company as a Maintenance Technician supporting high-speed packaging and processing equipment in a clean, temperature-controlled facility. This role is primarily mechanical (70%) with electrical work (30%) , requiring strong troubleshooting and preventative maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on packaging equipment including conveyors, baggers, labelers, mixers, X-ray machines, and shrink equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues (up to 480V)
• Diagnose and repair VFDs, PLCs (I/O), and HMI systems
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Troubleshoot sensors and photo eyes
• Complete MIG/TIG welding and basic fabrication
• Document work in MRP/CMMS systems
• Collaborate with production to reduce downtime and improve performance
• Follow GMP and safety standards

Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing, packaging, or similar
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Experience with PLCs, VFDs, HMI systems, and 480V equipment
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and sensors
• Welding (MIG/TIG) experience preferred
• Experience in GMP environments

Work Environment

Clean, 200,000 sq. ft. facility with modern packaging equipment. Monday–Friday schedule with regular Saturday overtime.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $79040.00/yr.
