Certified Medical Assistant I or II- Ambulatory Float Pool

Overview The Ambulatory Resource Team is the float pool for the ambulatory clinics within the Charleston division of MUSC. The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will be oriented to the adult primary care offices and specialty clinics. Specialty clinics can include, but are not limited to, women’s health, cardiology, urology, ENT, endocrinology, dermatology, oncology, orthopedics, transplant, pulmonology, rheumatology, and GI. Pediatric offices include, but are not limited to, primary care, cardiology, urology, ENT, endocrinology, dermatology, oncology, orthopedics, transplant, pulmonology, rheumatology, and GI. Responsibilities The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager and directly under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role supports a decentralized patient-centered approach to care by performing multi-skilled activities including: Assisting in examination and treatment of patients under physician direction Interviewing patients and measuring vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height) Recording or inputting patient information into the medical record Preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited medical assisting program and at least one year of patient care experience preferred. Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health Career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
