Position Summary
Midwest Machine Service, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have strong TIG and MIG welding experience and the ability to produce high-quality welded assemblies. This position involves working from drawings, fabricating components, and assisting with general metal fabrication processes to support precision manufacturing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform TIG and MIG welding on a variety of metals and fabricated components
- Fabricate parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications
- Prepare materials for welding including cutting, grinding, and fit-up
- Set up and operate welding equipment, cutting equipment, grinders, saws, drills, and other fabrication tools
- Fabricate structural frames, brackets, guards, machine components, and custom assemblies
- Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, fit, finish, and compliance with specifications
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe, organized work area
- Collaborate with machinists and fabrication team members to complete projects efficiently
- Assist with general fabrication and shop duties as required
Qualifications
- Proven experience in TIG and MIG welding (required)
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints (preferred)
- Experience with metal shear, forming, or press brake operations (a plus)
- Ability to sketch components and assemblies by hand and clearly communicate dimensions and design intent
- Experience with cutting, grinding, drilling, fitting, and general metal fabrication
- Ability to accurately use tape measures, squares, calipers, levels, and other measuring tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift materials and work in a manufacturing shop environment
- Ability to safely lift, position, and maneuver materials and components as required
