The successful candidate will provide substance use disorder treatment services to a diverse client population, including individuals referred through community agencies, courts, probation, child welfare, and other referral sources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct substance use screenings, assessments, and addiction severity evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, review, and update individualized treatment plans.
  • Establish measurable treatment goals and objectives in collaboration with clients.
  • Provide individual substance use disorder counseling.
  • Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups and didactic education.
  • Provide relapse-prevention, recovery, coping-skills, and substance use education.
  • Monitor and document client participation, progress, barriers, and treatment outcomes.
  • Complete progress notes, treatment plan reviews, discharge documentation, progress reports, and correspondence accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Communicate professionally with referral sources and other authorized parties while maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Coordinate referrals for mental health, medical, housing, recovery support, and other community-based services when appropriate.
  • Educate clients and families regarding substance use disorders, recovery, prevention, and available resources.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, training, case consultation, and quality-improvement activities.
  • Maintain compliance with Agape policies, ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and applicable state, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties related to client care and program operations as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Texas LCDC license preferred OR current Texas Counselor Intern credential required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment planning, relapse prevention, recovery principles, and counseling techniques.
  • Previous experience in substance use treatment, counseling, behavioral health, social services, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Strong documentation and case-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Compassionate, respectful, and client-centered approach.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Comfortable using electronic health records and other computer-based documentation systems.
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling and program needs.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is committed to helping individuals achieve meaningful and sustainable recovery while maintaining high standards of professionalism, ethics, accountability, and documentation. We are looking for someone who works well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and who understands the importance of timely documentation, compliance, communication, and quality client care.
