Minimum Requirements

• New York State Certified certification in social worker, school counseling, mental health, psychologist, or a similar certification is encouraged preferred
• Non-certified teachers accepted on an as needed basis
• Must have completed 60 college credit hours

Desired Qualifications

• Background in psychology or sociology preferred
• Must possess the ability to interact effectively with staff, students and parents
• Must demonstrate professional demeanor
• Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Must be punctual and dependable

Position Summary/Responsibilities

Provide substitute mental health services for various levels in areas of social worker, school counselors, and psychologists. Follow established plans and interventions outlined form the mental health professional, responsibilities could include delivering classroom lessons, small group counseling, or 1:1 counseling, academic planning, evaluation, delivering evidence based interventions. Manage student behavior as needed. Hours vary per building and assignment. Follow directions given by school administration and/or cooperating Mental Health staff.
