JOB SUMMARYProvide process engineering expertise in support of optimization, operational, regulatory and project activities within the Natural Gas Gathering & Processing Facilities. Act as the technical lead for optimization, troubleshooting, and what-if analysis of the facility assets. Perform a multitude of process related duties to ensure processing plants and equipment are operating efficiently, effectively, and products are within specifications. These duties include process modeling, plant troubleshooting, identification and development of OpEx / CapEx projects, and Operations support.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesProcess Optimization working with Operations to monitor and recommend adjustments to plant processesTroubleshoot operational problems to determine causes and solutionsProcess model development and application as required to support Commercial requests, operations troubleshooting, and optimizationMaintaining, updating, and calibrating process models to ensure accurate representations of equipment and processesAssist development and review of basic process design specifications in support of projectsProvide preliminary process design specifications for equipment and instrumentation. Coordinate and collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that procured equipment and instrumentation is exemplary for its intended use.Being a presence at processing facilities and soliciting input from Operations to identify issues, maintain high reliability, and increase asset performance. Provide preliminary scoping and development of projects to achieve these objectivesProvide ongoing process engineering support for plant growth and technical projectsPerform basic economic evaluations independently. Collaborate with personnel in Commercial, Engineering, and Operations to conduct in-depth economic evaluations.Coordinate field studies and implementation of improvementsProvide technical support for matters related to process safety management including:Management of Change (MOC)Sizing, specification, and evaluation of overpressure protection systemsHazard identification and resolutionDevelopment and modification of operating proceduresTravel to processing facilities as needed (~25% anticipated)EducationBachelor's Degree in Engineering required. BS Chemical Engineering is preferred.ExperienceExperience at this level is typically attained with seven or more years of experience in engineering, operations and/or project managementExperience with and knowledge of hydrocarbon processing and related facilities design, construction, operation, and maintenanceExperience with process modeling software (ProMax preferred)Experience utilizing various vendor equipment rating software (Ariel Performance, Fisher Valve Spec, KG Tower, etc.)Experience communicating technical matters with Operations personnel and successfully implementing operational changesExperience achieving goals and developing employee/team strengths, exhibiting a positive example and influence that leads to employee, project, and stakeholder successesExperience in use and function of applications such as: Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, Word, etc.Experience identifying, researching, understanding, evaluating, and prioritizing operational problems and coordinating appropriate action/responseKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of: plant operations in the midstream industry, including cryogenic gas processing, glycol and molecular sieve dehydration, amine treating, and compressionKnowledge of: and understanding of operational functions and commercial relationships with the ability to anticipate functional and transactional impactsAbility to: read and interpret governmental regulations, blueprints, contracts, manuals, specifications, surveys, charts, engineering studies, and other relevant reports and correspondenceAbility to: analyze and resolve issues and/or questions concerning engineering design and calculations obtaining assistance if needed on more complex design and calculationsAbility to: review complex engineering drawings and material.Ability to: manage and prioritize multiple assignments with competing deadlinesAbility to: identify, plan and organize development of process improvement opportunitiesAbility to: use logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions or approaches to a problemAbility to: apply math, algebraic formulas, and statistical methodsAbility to: interact, negotiate, advise, and communicate effectivelyAbility to: operate office tools and equipment requiredAbility to: communicate thoughts, ideas, information, messages, and other written information, which may contain technical material, in a logical, organized, and coherent mannerStrength Factor Rating - Physical Demands/RequirementsSedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
