Job Title: Logistics Specialist Job Description

The Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for daily communication with production to review open orders and assure that materials will be available for shipment on time.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate between shipping, production, sales, customer service, and carriers.

• Manage orders from planning through to completion.

• Provide freight costs and track shipments as required.

• Prepare and complete required reports.

• Manage inbound and outbound load schedules and document detention.

• Manage drivers throughout the day and coordinate with security guards.

• Weigh trucks in and out as directed.

• Daily communication with production to review open orders and assure timely material availability for shipment.

• Coordinate with customer service to manage ship dates, order changes, freight rates, service delays, and logistics information.

• Communicate with 3PLs and customer carriers for scheduling coordination.

• Maintain a shipping schedule that supports an efficient work plan.

• Prepare and complete all required reports for traffic, shipping, and customers.

• Schedule delivery appointments for inbound materials.

• Become familiar with the basics of air freight, international, and hazardous shipments.

• Log carriers in and out in a timely manner.

• Cross-train across multiple business units as needed.

• Maintain housekeeping and 6S standards.

• Identify quality issues and attain established productivity standards.

• Understand and adhere to safety policies and procedures.

• Perform related responsibilities as required or directed.

• Regular and timely attendance is crucial to success and team safety.

• Be prepared for mandatory overtime depending on business needs.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• 1-3 years of clerical experience required.

• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

• Time management and decision-making ability.

• Written and verbal communication skills.

• General office skills and strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office) required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1-3 years of transportation and shipping experience preferred.

• Prior transportation and shipping experience helpful but not required.

• Forklift, Shipping and receiving, Pallet jack, Unloading, Picking, Packing, General labor, Loading, Material handling, Packaging, Rf scanner, Inventory control, Load, Pick, Stand up forklift, Logistics, Electric pallet jack, Warehouse inventory, Sitdown, Stand up, Order pic, Reach truck, Cherry picker, Forklift license.

• Computer and ERP skills are heavily preferred.

Work Environment

Schedule: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Work in a brand new, very clean, and well-kept warehouse building. The team is small, with about 5 people currently.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
