Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License required (WV or Compact) Certifications: BLS, Oncology certification preferred Must-Have: Strong candidates with or without oncology experience will be considered. Description: This position is for a medical surgical/oncology registered nurse. The nurse will work on a unit with a focus on adult patients battling cancer, palliative care, and family education. The nurse will handle various medical and surgical patients. Telemetry and urology patients will also be included in the care responsibilities. The nurse will have a patient ratio of 4-5:1 during the day and 5-6:1 at night. The nursing staff will be required to float as necessary within their scope of practice. Chemotherapy administration experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Skill requirements include telemetry, central line draws, ports, blood administration, PCA pumps, bone marrow aspiration assistance, and Pleurx chest tube management. The position requires every other weekend availability. The daily census will be approximately 24 patients in a 29-bed unit. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams. Nursing care will cover various medical diagnoses, including acute complications and symptom management associated with oncology care.
