Educational Aide, Chemistry Laboratory

Part‑Time Student Lab Assistant Responsible for supporting college chemistry teaching labs by setting up equipment and chemicals, maintaining a safe environment, managing inventory, and aiding projects to enhance student learning and safety. Responsibilities and Duties Set up laboratory equipment and materials prior to each lab session, ensuring everything is in proper working order. Prepare chemical solutions according to established procedures and safety guidelines. Serve as a safety ambassador by encouraging safety protocols during lab sessions. Maintain accurate records of inventory using a computerized tracking system, including ordering and stocking supplies as needed. Collaborate with lab staff and faculty to develop and implement safety improvements and educational enhancements for the labs. Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure functionality and safety. Clean and organize lab spaces before and after each session, adhering to safety standards. Assist with special projects and research initiatives within the lab as assigned. Provide service of excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement. Perform other duties as assigned. Reports to: Academic Lab Manager, Chemistry. Qualifications Currently enrolled Santa Fe College student pursuing a STEM degree, in good academic standing, and taking six or more credit hours. Criminal background check will be conducted. Preferred: Additional laboratory or chemistry coursework. Detail‑Oriented – proven accuracy and attention to detail. Systems & Software – proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
