Duties

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and electrical equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure safety.
• Troubleshoot and repair appliances, HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration), and mechanical systems using schematics and technical manuals.
• Conduct repairs on equipment including motors, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical components with precision.
• Assist with construction or renovation projects by installing new equipment or upgrading existing systems.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to ensure compliance and facilitate future troubleshooting.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
• Lead small teams or coordinate with contractors during complex repairs or installations when necessary.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a service technician or maintenance technician with a strong background in appliance repair and equipment troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of schematics, technical manuals, HVAC/R systems, refrigeration technology, and mechanical principles.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC systems including air conditioning units and ventilation systems.
• Experience in electrical DC and AC, welding, pipe fitting, steam plant operation and metal fabrication.
• Must be familiar with maintenance functions in relation to the operating procedures of all equipment plant wide
• Must be familiar with all building systems for all Akron locations (i.e. heating, plumbing, electrical).
• Mechanical knowledge related to construction, equipment repair, and general maintenance practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately.
• Strong problem-solving skills coupled with leadership qualities to guide team efforts when needed.
