Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: 2+ Years in Medical Surgical License: Michigan Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - 2+ years of straight medical surgical experience - Level II or I Trauma level experience Description: Client has incorporated a strict attendance policy to advocate for their patient population. Any RN contractor who is absent from a scheduled shift or is more than 20 minutes late for their scheduled shift three times will be terminated effective immediately. Situations such as a communicable disease or hospitalization with supporting evidence will be reviewed favorably. The Medical Surgical Unit has a diverse patient population consisting of general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke care. It is a challenging fast-paced environment with great learning opportunities for both graduate and experienced nurses. Nursing on this unit is patient-centered and focused on patient safety and delivery of quality care for positive patient outcomes. There is an active and engaged Unit Based Council that promotes a healthy work environment of teamwork and positivity. New team members are welcomed and supported during their orientation as they learn and grow in their professional nursing practice. Using clinical pathways, patient education, and interactive communication as guides, all aspects of patient care are addressed by an exceptional Interdisciplinary Care Team. These positive and progressive attitudes contribute to a collaborative environment involving all members of the Interdisciplinary Care Team to provide excellent patient care and positive outcomes. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized written plan of care based upon a physiological, psychosocial, and spiritual assessment. Seeks lifelong learning through certification, advanced practice, higher education, and literature review. Demonstrates leadership through sharing knowledge and being a clinical resource and professional role model. Demonstrates effective communication through collegial relationships and interdisciplinary communication. Demonstrates enhanced time management skills and the ability to assist others in order to contribute to overall team performance. Performs other duties consistent with the job’s purpose as directed by competency-based objectives.
