ED Tech/HUC

Dual Role Position: 12 Hours as a Health Unit Coordinator and 36 Hours as an Emergency Department Technician 12-hour shifts: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am Purpose of ED Tech Job This position is responsible for providing individualized care to patients in an emergency setting according to established standards, policies and procedures. Purpose of HUC Job This position is responsible for assisting staff in the coordination of intra‑and inter‑departmental activities and communication. Assists with patient‑related activities under the supervision of the RN. ED Tech Job Functions Prep and transport patients for examination. Assist emergency staff in direct and non‑direct patient care functions as delegated. Perform EKGs and point of care testing. Apply splints and braces to patients as ordered, ensuring appropriate CMS afterward. Perform mandatory equipment checks. Document the various aspects of care on appropriate forms according to RMC policies and procedures. Accompany ambulance transports and assist with airway management as needed. Demonstrate competencies in the specialty area of Emergency. Assist with patient‑related activities under the supervision of the RN. Prepare equipment and aid providers during examination, testing, and treatments of patients. Maintain stocked supplies of equipment in the emergency department. Perform other duties as assigned. HUC Job Functions Facilitate physician orders. Communicate pertinent information regarding unit/department activities to appropriate staff. Process admissions, transfers, discharges and schedule appointments. Restock and order supplies for unit/area. Complete assigned clerical responsibilities. Perform support functions for management staff as required. Maintain the flow of the department by coordinating care of the patient between other departments. Demonstrate competencies in the specialty area of Emergency. Provide professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of a Nursing Assistant or EMT course OR completion of a Nurse Internship with Ridgeview Medical Center OR an approved combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong communication and listening skills. Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions. Knowledge of basic computer functions. Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations. Ability to work autonomously and as a team. Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work and mult‑task in a high‑stress and fast‑paced environment. Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence. License/Certifications Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification. Preferred Qualifications EMT Certification. Nursing Assistant Certification. Experience as a Nursing Assistant or EMT. Experience in a hospital setting. Compensation Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity. Pay listed does not include any shift, weekend, or other differentials.
