Medical Assistant - Cancer Care Hours - Full time, 32 hours per week Location: Rockport, Maine We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Cancer Care team in Rockport, Maine. In this role, you will support providers and clinical staff in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing oncology treatment. Key Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and medication reconciliation Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits Coordinate patient flow and ensure timely, efficient care Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, injections, and specimen collection (as applicable) Manage patient communication, including phone calls, scheduling, and follow-up care instructions Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) Support care coordination, including referrals and prior authorizations Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and compliant with infection control standards Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis). License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required. (Prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from certification requirement). Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Fully remote care team members are exempt from BLS certification requirement. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire. Experience: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.
