Director of Music Ministries

POSITION TITLE: Director of Music Ministries REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Senior Pastor PURPOSE: Plan, develop, lead, and coordinate music for all aspects of the music ministry at Platt Springs United Methodist Church SKILLS DESIRED: Ability to demonstrate exceptional technique in leading musical groups and leading worship Strong interpersonal and communication skills Exhibits ability and experience in successfully recruiting and resourcing new volunteers for the music ministry Demonstrates ability to use music/worship software Exhibits an operational understanding of financial budgeting and fundraising EDUCATION: Minimum requirement is a high school diploma and 5 years area work experience; however, an undergraduate degree with special experience in leading music is preferred PRIMARY DUTIES: Leads the choir in regular weekly practice and in worship, Sunday mornings and special services such as Christmas and Easter. Choir practice has historically taken place on Wednesday evenings Selects anthems and special music showcasing the strengths of musical staff and volunteers Prepares and consults with the pastor and church organist on all worship services including Sunday mornings and special celebrations/services Prepares musical staff and volunteers for special music at least 4 weeks in advance, allowing for practice time on Wednesday evenings Recruits and coordinates music volunteers from the church and the community to enhance the ministries of the church Develops and oversees the music ministry budget Ensures all church-owned instruments are appropriately maintained Maintains and updates the church’s music library Other duties as assigned EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time Location: Springdale, SC Salary and hours will be determined based on experience and other qualifications.
