We specialize in the areas of brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and complex medical conditions.SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF JOBThe Pharmacy Technician-Supplemental is responsible for performing designated tasks and duties relative to prepackaging unit dose preparations, Pyxis management, code cart inventory checks, medication outdate inspections, Cardinal ordering, and front counter duties as needed. Additionally, understands that every employee is responsible for exhibiting exceptional customer service by answering call lights on the nursing unit and if not able to assist personally, will inform the appropriate employee regarding the patient's need.Understands the role of employee's individual position regarding HIPAA requirements and level of access to Protected Health Information as defined in HIPAA hospital-wide policies. Understands that it is the responsibility of every RHI staff member to provide patient safety as a priority response according to RHI evidence-based practices. Encourages patients to be actively involved in their own care as patient safety strategy.JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSRefills Pyxis and checks for all outdates according to written departmental work standards.Delivers all bulk medications not loaded in Pyxis and return unused or discharged patients.Cleans own work area and maintains cleanliness of areas and unit dose machine as assigned by supervisor.Restocks code carts and outpatient areas as assigned. Does monthly outdate checks on all code carts and maintains accurate records of this process.Do daily unit checks to ensure that meds are not left out on the unit and have patient names and expiration dates when required.Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCENo experience required, but one to six months in a pharmacy setting preferred.SPECIAL TRAINING, LICENSURE, CREDENTIALINGValid Indiana Pharmacy Technician LicenseNational certification required upon hire or within 12 months of hire date.Pharmacy Interns hired as pharmacy techs are not required by the Indiana State Board of Pharmacy to obtain a separate pharmacy tech license or a National Certification.Pharmacy Interns must have an Intern License issued by the state of Indiana.EDUCATION / HOURSPosition requires high school diploma or equivalent.
