(NDS) develops, manufactures, and supports Shoulder Launched Munitions (SLMs), energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aerospace structures.JOB OVERVIEW: Manufacturing Engineers at NDS Mesa analyze, design, develop, and implement methods to produce Nammo products that support the warfighter. Author instructions to return product to conforming conditionProvide hands-on assembly training to operations teamEvaluate existing equipment and / or systems for methods to improve safety, performance, quality, efficiency, reliabilityApply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing processDefine and author maintenance procedures for equipment and tooling through coordination with maintenance teamIdentify and champion continuous improvement projectsCoordinate, document, and perform validation of process changes, tooling, and manufacturing equipmentReview and provide feedback on product designs to ensure manufacturabilityTroubleshoot and resolve tooling and equipment electrical/mechanical issuesAuthor and give presentations summarizing progress on selected projects and programs to both internal and external customers.Participate in and support internal and external auditsFollow safety guidelinesSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Required:BS/MS in Engineering discipline or Physics with ability to perform basic engineering analyses (stress, deflection, flow rate, pressure drop, and tolerance stack-up)Solid understanding of metal working tolerances produced by milling, grinding, turning, and laser/water jet cuttingExperience with Lean Manufacturing and applying statistics in a manufacturing settingExperience designing, installing, and qualifying production equipment including hand tools, fixtures, gages, and semi-automated equipmentProficiency at authoring technical documents such as work instructions, test plans, test reports, standard operating procedures, and project reports.Knowledge and experience with selection of materials commonly used in tools, gages, and assembly fixturesCapable of performing basic stress analysis using hand calculations and/or FEA softwareBasic understanding of pneumatics, controls, sensors, and PLC'sBasic understanding and experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and process hazard analysis (PHA)Ability to obtain BATF approval to engage in certain explosive operationsPreferred:3+ years of hands-on experience with composite wet filament winding3+ years of experience in supporting manufacturing in a production facility certified to AS9100 or a similar quality management system.Hands on experience with CNC machining and OD grinding including tooling selection, setup, and programming.COMPETENCIES:Excellent communication and collaboration skillsStrong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilitiesAbility to work in fast-paced environmentsLeadership or teamwork abilitiesTechnical writingDriven individual with a passion for continuous improvementWORKING CONDITIONS:Full-time on-site position.This position may require travel up to 10% on an as-need basis.Work with explosives, pyrotechnics, and solid rocket propellant devices.This role may involve working in diverse settings and conditions.Note: Due to US Export Control laws and regulations; applicants selected for employment must show proof of a U.S. Person status before employment may begin.Our values are the fundamental principles guiding the way we do business and interact with stakeholders.DEDICATION: We are enthusiastic and creative, always searching for the best solutions.
