Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician – Robotics

Job Description

This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, facilities, and electrical systems in a high-volume stamping and welded assembly plant. You will work extensively with automated systems and Fanuc robots, ensuring reliable operation of production equipment and supporting continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, facilities, and electrical systems in a stamping and welded assembly plant.
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment, identify root causes of failure, and install new or repaired parts to restore safe and efficient operation.
• Install and repair electrical apparatus up to 400 VAC and 800 amps, including transformers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair automated machinery and equipment, with a strong focus on Fanuc robots and associated control systems.
• Perform Fanuc robot troubleshooting, including touching up robot points, moving spot welds, understanding and working with inputs/outputs (I/O), and homing robots.
• Set up, adjust, and maintain robotic spot welding operations to meet quality and production standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to guide installation and repair work.
• Collaborate with automation and production teams to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
• Follow established safety procedures and best practices when working with high-voltage electrical systems and industrial machinery.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications to equipment and robotic systems in a clear and accurate manner.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with Fanuc robot troubleshooting, including touching up robot points, moving spot welds, and homing robots.
• Strong understanding of robot I/O (inputs/outputs) and ability to diagnose and correct related issues.
• Proficiency in robotic spot welding processes in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Industrial maintenance experience with electrical systems, machinery, and automated equipment.
• Ability to work safely with electrical apparatus up to 400 VAC and 800 amps.
• Experience with Fanuc robots, with the majority of exposure (approximately 95%) on Fanuc platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Solid understanding of automation and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Practical electrical troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large stamping and welded assembly plant with approximately 125 employees and extensive use of robotics, primarily Fanuc systems. The facility operates on two primary shifts: first shift runs from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and second shift runs from 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM, typically on five 10-hour days and occasionally six 10-hour days depending on production needs. The plant manufactures floor pans, rear steel frames, and body-in-white components for major automotive manufacturers, with new SUV projects underway. The work environment is highly automated, fast-paced, and production-driven, with regular interaction with industrial machinery, robots, and welding equipment, and adherence to all safety and protective equipment requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
