We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a healthcare organization in Honolulu, Hawaii. This Long-term Contract position will focus on strengthening day-to-day accounting operations through accurate reconciliations, organized financial records, and thorough audit support for the fiscal year. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage high-volume financial tasks with precision. Due to the nature of the work and onsite requirements, preference will be given to Hawaii residents. Applicants should be able to reliably commute or reside within the region to meet business needs. Responsibilities:

• Perform balance sheet and account reconciliations across multiple financial areas, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.

• Maintain accurate accounting records through consistent data entry, documentation review, and updates to financial support files.

• Prepare journal entries and support general ledger activity to help keep financial reporting complete and reliable.

• Organize and refine reconciliation backup materials, adding clear detail and appropriate supporting information within QuickBooks.

• Assist with rent and expense allocation processes to ensure costs are assigned correctly across accounts or programs.

• Reconcile operating bank and credit card activity, investigating variances and following up on outstanding items.

• Support audit readiness by assembling schedules, validating records, and preparing documentation needed for fiscal year review.

• Collaborate with the fiscal team to help reduce backlog items and improve the completeness of financial records.

• Experience in staff accounting or accounting support roles with hands-on responsibility for reconciliations and financial record maintenance.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and working within a general ledger environment.
• Demonstrated ability to complete bank account and credit card reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
• Working knowledge of expense or rent allocation practices within an accounting setting.
• Practical experience using QuickBooks for financial tracking, documentation, and account support.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organize, review, and analyze accounting data.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Background supporting audit preparation and maintaining well-organized financial documentation.
