Job Title

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Progressive Care / Telemetry

Location

Wausau, WI

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 36 Hours Per Week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Care for a high-acuity, fast-paced patient population including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defibrillation, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and med/surg overflow cases such as DKA, COPD exacerbation, and respiratory failure
• Administer and manage vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin
• Float to all inpatient units as needed based on census and staffing requirements
• Accurately document all patient care activities using electronic health record systems
• Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements (every other weekend; every other holiday)

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience in a Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU setting
• Minimum 2 years of IMC, PCU, or Telemetry experience
• Demonstrated experience managing Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin drips (required to advance in the interview process)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Epic charting experience

Preferred Experience / Skills

• At least one prior travel nursing assignment completed
• Ability to pass an EKG competency test within the first week of assignment
• Self-directed, resilient, and adaptable to a high-turnover, fast-paced clinical environment
