Food Service Worker - Part-Time

Job Summary The Food Service Worker (Cafeteria Worker) serves as a cafeteria and/or delicatessen/bakery worker, helping in the preparation, presentation, and serving of specialty meats, delicacies, preserved foods, cheeses, salads, breads, and sweets to patrons. The incumbent assists in weighing, pricing, and wrapping selected foods on plates, trays, and in bags, prepares food displays in counter cases and other display units, greets customers at the service counter, takes special orders, and answers basic customer questions about specialty foods. Primary Duties Set up food on self‑serving lines and portion food for individual servings in accordance with instructions. Use prepared ingredients and perform routine, repetitive steps to make hot and cold sandwiches, fruit and vegetable trays, salads & rotisserie chicken, and to slice and/or mix simple ingredients. Refill cold bars, salad bars, pastry cabinets, condiments, and juice dispensers, and set up dining rooms. Replace glassware, dishes, and silverware. Wipe and wash tables and countertops. Clean work area, utensils, and equipment; remove garbage; mop floors, walls, and tables. Remove dirty dishes, glasses, and silverware from serving counters. Mix washing solutions and operate electric dish‑washing machine, or wash dishes, glassware, pots and pans, and kitchen utensils by hand. Maintain equipment and work areas, utensils, and tables in a sanitary condition. Perform ware‑washing, and keep pot and pan areas organized before, during, and after meals. Follow correct techniques, cleaning schedules, and tasks. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Perform duties listed under Primary Duties. Qualifications High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred. One year food service‑related experience preferred. Strong customer service skills required. Working knowledge of food code. Strong sanitation abilities and knowledge. Basic computer user knowledge and ability. Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit. The employee may occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
