Travel Registered Nurse - Step Down Unit - $1,909 per week

Title: Progressive Care Unit - PCU RN - Travel Nurse (TNAA TotalMed RN) Job Details Specialty: Stepdown Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/13/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Hours per week: 36 hours Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Responsibilities As a PCU Travel Nurse, you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, but aren’t unstable enough to need ICU care. Progressive Care Unit RNs monitor cardiac and other vital information, detect changes, and enable intervention of life‑threatening situations. Patients receive complex medications, sometimes via intravenous lines that may need adjustment or titration. The PCU RN is sometimes also called a step‑down nurse; the PCU is also known as cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown, and ER holding. Key tasks include: Provide basic bedside care and stabilize critical cardiac patients. Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs. Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report any adverse reactions. Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays. Initiate corrective action when monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology. Qualifications & Requirements Must be prepared to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. RNs should be able to lift up to 20 pounds and may be required to lift or move patients up to 50 pounds at times. Effective coping with stress and the ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds are essential. Minimum certifications and experience: ACLS, BLS, NIH certifications. 2 years recent acute care experience. *Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
