Position Summary:

The Crew Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, coordinating crews, and ensuring construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and customer requirements. This role serves as the primary field leader on assigned projects and works closely with Field Supervisors, Construction Managers, and crew members to support productivity, quality, safety compliance, and operational accountability in telecom and utility construction environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

• Oversee and coordinate daily field operations and crew activities on assigned projects
• Lead field crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within project scope and timelines
• Review project plans, prints, locates, and operational requirements prior to work execution
• Assign daily tasks and provide direction, coaching, and support to crew members
• Monitor production, job progress, quality standards, and operational performance in the field
• Ensure crews comply with company policies, OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and operational procedures
• Coordinate materials, equipment, tools, and field resources to support project completion
• Communicate field updates, operational concerns, delays, risks, and project needs to leadership
• Maintain accurate production reporting, timecards, field documentation, and operational records
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of field issues impacting project performance or schedules
• Conduct job site safety meetings, inspections, and operational reviews as required
• Ensure proper traffic control setup, utility protection, and job site organization
• Assist with training and development of Laborers, Drivers, Operators, and field personnel
• Support customer interactions and maintain professionalism on job sites
• Perform hands-on field work and operational support as needed
• Travel as required based on project and operational needs
• Other duties may be assigned

Follows established policies and procedures by monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and operational processes related to area(s) of responsibility and reporting violations or infractions to appropriate individual(s).

Identifies areas for improvement and offers suggestions to improve the site's efficiency, profitability, and productivity.

Keeps abreast of current changes in technology, logistics tools, processes, and standards within the industry and area(s) of responsibility by attending internal and external training programs and by accessing other sources of information and applying knowledge and practices to area(s) of responsibility.

Work Hours (may vary by location):

This position is scheduled as full time in a regular work week. Additional support within non-regular hours may be required and should be discussed with the supervisor. No additional compensation for overtime is offered for this position.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of 3–5 years of telecom, utility, or construction experience required
• Previous leadership or crew oversight experience required
• Experience managing underground, aerial, or utility construction operations preferred
• Ability to read and interpret construction prints, utility locates, and operational documentation
• Strong understanding of field operations, construction safety, and project coordination
• Experience working in fast-paced and physically demanding field environments
• Knowledge of construction equipment, tools, and operational procedures preferred

Language Ability:

Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively to comprehend and complete documents, and answer questions in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as needed.

Math Ability:

Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to measurements, production tracking, material quantities, and operational tasks.

Reasoning Ability:

Demonstrated ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

• Basic to intermediate proficiency using smartphones, tablets, GPS systems, and operational applications
• Ability to complete digital documentation, production reports, inspections, and timecards accurately
• Familiarity with project management tools, mapping systems, and field communication platforms preferred
• Ability to use email, internet-based systems, and mobile operational software effectively

Certifications:

• Valid driver’s license required
• CDL preferred or may be required based on operational needs
• OSHA certification preferred
• Telecom or construction-related certifications are a plus
• Ability to obtain company-required safety certifications and operational training

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

• Routine, local, or international travel may be required to attend training classes, conduct market research, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all the daily responsibilities of this position.
