Senior Superintendent, Inland Empire Overview The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all day-to-day job site activities, including project team performance, site conditions, safety and quality standards, compliance with scope, and effective management of trade partners. Responsibilities Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day job site activities including OSHA safety compliance. Direct field personnel according to the project plan and Suffolk supervisory principles. Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager. Report any problems promptly to the Project Manager to facilitate cost-effective solutions. Establish effective working relationships with clients and Suffolk team members. Request advice and assistance from the General Superintendent on matters pertaining to materials, sequencing, scheduling and personnel. Project Start‑Up/Turnover Meeting: identify pre‑mobilization activities; develop start‑up schedule; review schedule with Project Executive, General Superintendent and Project Manager. Scheduling: assist in formulating and implementing construction schedules; establish and maintain Project Baseline Schedule; update monthly; provide two‑week look ahead reports. Safety: ensure subcontractors participate in pre‑construction safety meetings; maintain MSD sheets, safety plans, insurance; review daily work; inspect; comply with Suffolk Safety program. Quality Management: insert benchmarks into baseline schedule; include Q‑Team members; ensure delivery inspections per schedule; document approvals. Subcontractor and Site Management: manage pre‑construction survey, staging plans; mobilize field office; document site; manage subcontractor performance; resolve personnel issues; oversee all phases of construction and documentation. Meeting Management: attend turnover, mobilization, coordination, safety, weekly foreman, monthly schedule review, closeout, owner, and subcontractor meetings. Administrative Management: complete construction office checklists; maintain daily logs, shop drawings; manage material deliveries; maintain required safety reporting and records. Project Closeout: manage subcontractor closeout; utilities transfer; owner training; punch list. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline and experience relative to project size/scope. 4+ years of experience in related construction fields. Ability to manage and embrace change and adapt to new processes. Applicable area licenses. Excellent team development skills and leadership abilities. Strong partnership with the Project Manager and staff. Committed to excellence, self‑motivated, self‑confident. Effective communication skills. Capacity to handle ambiguity, tight oversight, multiple competing priorities. Business judgment for budget vs construction process balance. Excellent organizational skills to manage details required for successful construction. Judgment to appropriately escalation issues. Exceptional management skills to ensure subcontractor performance.
