The Washington, D.C. office of McGuireWoods seeks an associate or counsel to join its Band 1 Chambers-Ranked Federal Energy Regulatory practice. The McGuireWoods team practices primarily before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) representing a wide range of energy companies including investor‑owned utilities, independent transmission and generation developers, energy traders, and large load customers. Our lawyers assist clients with regulatory compliance, rate‑related filings, litigation before FERC, and counsel clients on energy regulatory aspects of transactions for the financing, development, acquisition and disposition of energy/utility assets, including development of data center and other large load projects. McGuireWoods offers competitive salary with hours and merit bonus opportunities, billable hours credit for pro bono work, and excellent benefits. Salary: $310,000 - $425,000 Qualified candidates must have at least 4 years of experience with Federal electric regulation, ideally in: Two or more of the following areas: market‑based rates and related compliance, cost of service ratemaking, transmission and interconnection issues, FPA Section 203 and transaction‑related filings, compliance and due diligence, and organized energy markets. Excellent academic credentials and demonstrated writing skills. A proven track record of demonstrating initiative and independent working skills within a group setting. Willingness and desire to work with innovative technology platforms. Our attorneys leverage Harvey AI to accelerate research, streamline document drafting, and enhance analytical work, allowing associates to focus on higher‑value strategic thinking and client engagement.
