Assistant Store ManagerThe Assistant Store Manager position is responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store in the absence of the Store Manager. The successful candidate will be able to assist the Store Manager enhance customer satisfaction, meet sales and profitability goals, manage staff effectively, and ensure that the store is optimally stocked and merchandised while minimizing expenses. An Assistant Store Manager contributes to the growth and development of the management team and store associates. Assistant Store Manager responsibilities will include helping supervise store Associates and assisting the Store Managers with deposits.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSales and Operations Assist the store manager in realizing or exceeding determined sales plans and target objectivesHelp delegate daily workload among Associates to maintain outstanding store conditions and meet merchandising and visual presentation standardsReview all store evaluations with the store management team and staff to identify opportunity areas and correct all issues with a sense of urgencyHelp train and develop store staff with goals for growth and success in their positions, provide ongoing performance feedback, and recognize accomplishmentsAid in the coordination and overall supervision of staff to ensure sales performance goals are met and ensure compliance with policies and proceduresPropose innovative ideas to increase market share and develop business strategies to raise our customer pool, expand store traffic and optimize profitabilityParticipate in associate evaluations per company standards to provide feedback for improvement, praise and recognition, and growth opportunitiesReview staffing strengths and opportunities with HR/Ops Directors before additions or terminationsReport on buying trends, customer needs, profits, etc.Customer Service Promote Customer Service as the #1 Priority. This must be accomplished daily through observing, monitoring, and coaching Associates' performance and interactions on the sales floorUse huddles, communication boards, and store meetings to communicate the store's performance and educate, engage, and motivate the teamDrive customer satisfaction by ensuring that all customers are acknowledged, customer needs are met, and concerns are resolved quicklyDocument at least one (1) Observation per associate monthly and provide coaching to ensure service consistency to all customersInventory Assist in maintaining accurate inventory at all stages through on-hand integrity, daily receiving, and transfers, store communication, product mix and flow, and adhering to best practices, metrics, and the deadlines of Hatchet HardwareUtilize available inventory reports to maintain appropriate stock levels and maximize inventory accuracyCoaching and Training Work on your professional development through leadership training opportunities (self-directed learning, local business events, Ace learning, industry events, etc.)Identify appropriate training for store associates (on-the-job training, vendor training, etc.)Safety, Compliance and Store Environment Help enforce safety policies and procedures and serve as a safety role modelAssist in conducting preventative safety and fire inspections and take appropriate actions to correct all issuesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to provide motivation and leadership to associates storewide fairly and impartiallyGood verbal and written communication skillsHigh analytical skills and the ability to delegate and be self-directedExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational, time management, and project management skillsDevelop and maintain client relationships and strategic partnershipsDress according to company policyPossess a valid in-state driver's license with an acceptable driving recordHigh School Diploma required and a minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in a retail or customer service settingPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for an extended period, walk, reach, and bend to perform job dutiesMove and handle merchandise up to 50 pounds and fixtures throughout the store, which may involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, or stoppingWhat's in it for you?
