SAP Basis Administrator

The SAP Basis Administrator is a hands‑on technical role responsible for supporting the delivery, maintenance, and optimization of SAP Basis services across a global enterprise environment. This position contributes to both project initiatives and day‑to‑day operations within a complex SAP landscape supporting critical business systems.

In this role, the Junior SAP Basis Administrator will assist with SAP technical operations, including system administration, upgrades, migrations, and cloud transformations. The position involves working across multiple technologies, including SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, RISE with SAP, Windows, and Linux environments, cloud platforms, and SAP BTP while supporting enterprise‑scale environments and modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. This individual will work closely with senior team members to resolve issues, support projects, and ensure reliable SAP service delivery while continuously building technical expertise.

Responsibilities

SAP Basis Administration

• Perform SAP Basis administration, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and system refreshes
• Execute kernel upgrades, support package updates, and enhancement pack upgrades
• Manage SAP GUI configuration, SNC setup, spool management, and transport management (TMS)
• Support database refresh activities, backup and recovery processes, and disaster recovery planning
• Assist with system landscape design, performance tuning, vulnerability remediation, and monitoring
• Support Cloud Connector configuration and SAP system integrations

SAP S/4HANA & Platform Support

• Assist with S/4HANA upgrades, migrations, and system conversions (Greenfield and Brownfield)
• Support RISE with SAP onboarding and cloud‑based SAP environments

SAP HANA Database Administration

• Support the administration of SAP HANA 2.0 databases , including scale‑up and scale‑out environments
• Assist with HANA system replication configuration
• Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations
• Support performance tuning, memory optimization, and data growth management
• Assist with infrastructure integration for SAP environments across cloud and on‑premise platforms
• Support connectivity configuration including VPNs, networking, routing, and firewall configuration
• Work with Linux (SUSE/RHEL) and Windows environments including clustered systems and high‑availability configurations
• Collaborate with cloud providers such as AWS and Azure when applicable

SAP BTP Administration

• Provide support for SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) environments
• Assist with global account and subaccount administration, entitlements, and quotas
• Support integrations and extensions connecting S/4HANA and other SAP solutions

Security & Compliance

• Support implementation of SSO, SSL certificates, and identity integrations
• Assist with SAP user administration including role and profile management
• Support security and compliance activities in regulated environments including SOX and ITGC

Operations & Production Support

• Perform routine system maintenance including patches, upgrades, and monitoring
• Support transport management, client administration, and system performance monitoring
• Assist with backup, disaster recovery testing, and operational readiness
• Participate in on‑call support and production issue resolution as needed
• Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and change activities across SAP environments
• Assist in triaging and resolving high‑severity production incidents
• Support root cause analysis and drive long‑term corrective actions
• Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and vendor teams during issue resolution
• Identify trends and recurring issues to improve system stability and performance
• Contribute to operational improvements and service optimization initiatives

Documentation & Knowledge Management

• Maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams and system configurations
• Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and operational procedures
• Document incident resolutions, root cause analysis, and best practices
• Support knowledge sharing and training across technical teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• 2–3 years of SAP Basis experience with exposure to SAP security concepts
• Experience supporting SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments
• Hands‑on experience with SAP Basis administration including landscape design, upgrades, and migrations
• Knowledge of the SAP ecosystem including technologies such as HANA, BI, Fiori, Solution Manager, PI/PO, and other SAP components
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems including performance troubleshooting
• Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery architectures
• Experience supporting SAP environments running on SQL databases
• Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Experience working in regulated environments (SOX / ITGC) preferred
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Travel up to 5–10% as needed

Preferred

• SAP certifications in S/4HANA, SAP Basis, or SAP HANA
