Senior Accountant

Job Description

ProspectBlue is partnering with a leading organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join their corporate accounting team. This is a hands-on role focused on month-end close, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support . The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and resolve accounting issues while partnering across the business.

This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies while supporting process improvements and maintaining a strong internal control environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and financial reporting support .
• Perform and maintain balance sheet reconciliations , ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Manage accounting for accruals, prepaid expenses, and monthly amortizations while analyzing underlying activity.
• Analyze account activity, investigate variances, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and financial support.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business activity, cost drivers, and ensure accurate expense recognition.
• Assist in maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures, and process documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting standards.
• Support accounting projects and initiatives focused on improving efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong understanding of GAAP principles .
• Experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Public company, public accounting, or complex corporate accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities.
