Water Engineering Intern

Engineering Intern We are seeking an Engineering Intern to work in the Water Department. This is an exciting hands‑on learning experience in water and wastewater infrastructure planning, design, and operations. The internship offers the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting alongside experienced engineers and technical staff. The internship is expected to work 19–40 hours per week during normal business hours: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. The anticipated start date will be June/July 2026 and the opportunity may be extended within the school year depending on availability. Responsibilities Assist in reviewing public and developer‑financed construction documents; evaluate technical documents including infrastructure improvement plans, hydraulic modeling reports, and master plans. Assist with operating and maintaining hydraulic water and sewer models used to track system capacity; conduct analysis and “what‑if” development scenarios in modeling software. Provide basic engineering support to water distribution, water treatment, wastewater collection, and wastewater treatment operations. Prepare basic technical memoranda, reports, and presentations to describe results of hydraulic and engineering analysis. Investigate water/sewer related field problems affecting property owners, contractors, and infrastructure operations and maintenance. Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Valid Arizona Driver License. Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrate a base academic knowledge of the water/wastewater engineering industry with a desire to gain working experience.
