Staff QA Engineer

The Staff QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring complete test coverage of product functionality, development and maintenance of comprehensive test automation infrastructure, helping with debugging and fixing Production issues. This role is responsible for performing a variety of QA engineering tasks including the execution, automating and maintaining of test cases. Actively participate in backlog grooming. Participate in production calls and help with resolving production issues, and raise appropriate questions very early in the feature development process. The ideal candidate will have the necessary skills and experience and love to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment, is self-motivated, has the ability to lead and drive initiatives, and mentor junior engineers. This role also collaborates directly with a cross-functional team of Architects, Designers, Engineers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate the design and development process.

Required Skills/Experience:

• 8 + years of experience software testing
• 6 + years of experience with API testing
• Experience API contract testing
• Testing databases, Mongo and SQL
• Linux background (system level)
• Understanding of operating systems
• Experience with coding languages, Python preferred
• Experience in Linux Shell Scripting
• Ability to debug system level issues
• Experienced with agile development methodologies
• Deep understanding of software testing principles
• Understanding of cloud computing and distributed systems
• Familiar with cloud deployment/monitoring tools
• Ability to make decisions and perform risk analysis to maximize coverage based on risk and time
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated experience writing test plans and test cases and have a quality mindset
• Well organized, creative, and detail-oriented, a self-starter who is capable of identifying problems, taking initiative to propose solutions, and successfully executing plans.
