Job Description

The Prep Cook will support a restaurant kitchen under the direction of the sous chef, preparing ingredients and components for produce and salads, proteins and seafood, sauces and stocks, and baking and desserts. This role helps maintain an organized, sanitary, and efficient kitchen while gaining opportunities for promotion to line cook, cross-training across stations, and culinary mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for produce and salads, proteins and seafood, sauces and stocks, and baking and desserts.
• Follow recipes and use proper knife-handling techniques.
• Portion food accurately and assist with order preparation.
• Store food properly and support inventory rotation.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation and clean equipment and workstations.
• Organize the prep station for efficient kitchen operations.
• Support inventory activities and communicate preparation needs to the sous chef.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in food preparation.
• Food Handler Certification.
• Knife skills and knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Experience with portion control and inventory rotation.
• Time management and teamwork skills.
