DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS - ACUTE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH JOB OVERVIEW

Seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Admissions to lead and oversee all admissions, intake, evaluation, and crisis triage operations within a behavioral health setting. This leadership role is responsible for driving admission strategies, optimizing departmental performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering exceptional patient access and service outcomes.

The Director of Admissions will collaborate with organizational leadership, referral sources, and clinical teams to improve efficiency, maximize department effectiveness, and support the facility's mission of providing high-quality behavioral healthcare services.

REQUIREMENTS Education

• Master's Degree in a Human Services-related field required

OR

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of healthcare admissions experience preferred
• Previous leadership experience within admissions, intake, or patient access services preferred
• Behavioral health admissions leadership experience strongly preferred

Certifications

• CPR Certification required
• De-escalation/Restraint Certification required (training may be provided upon hire)
• First Aid Certification may be required based on facility requirements
• Additional state licensure may be required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Admissions Leadership

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for admissions and intake operations
• Oversee crisis triage, evaluations, intake assessments, and admission processes
• Ensure efficient patient access and admission workflow management
• Coordinate patient referrals and facilitate appropriate placement into treatment programs

Quality & Compliance

• Lead quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and accreditation standards
• Monitor admissions processes for effectiveness, accuracy, and patient satisfaction
• Implement and maintain department policies and procedures

Staff Management

• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop admissions personnel
• Conduct orientation, in-service education, and ongoing staff development
• Foster collaboration and teamwork throughout the department
• Support staff performance management and professional growth

Financial & Operational Management

• Develop and manage departmental budgets
• Monitor spending and resource utilization
• Establish departmental goals and performance metrics
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery

Community & Referral Relations

• Serve as a clinical liaison with referral sources and community partners
• Support outreach and relationship-building initiatives
• Promote best practices in admissions management and patient engagement
• Enhance referral development and patient access strategies
