Travel Registered Nurse in the CVICU

We are seeking a passionate travel registered nurse to provide exceptional care in a high-acuity pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU). Key responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Manage complex pediatric cardiac cases, including chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, delegating appropriately to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about their care plans and support emotional and psychological needs.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of patient history, treatments, and progress.
• Adhere to rigorous safety and clinical protocols, ensuring the highest standards of care.

Required skills:

• Proven pediatric cardiac nursing experience, especially with chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Current RN license in Texas or a compact state, along with BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through AHA.
• Knowledge of pediatric cardiovascular protocols and procedures.

Nice to have skills:

• Experience in a high-acuity ICU setting.
• Prior travel nursing experience.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation systems.
• Additional certifications in pediatric care specialist areas.

Preferred education and experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• One year of critical care or pediatric cardiac nursing experience is ideal; new graduates with relevant clinical training are encouraged to apply.

Other requirements:

• Must have pediatric cardiac clinical experience.
• Flexibility to work 7 PM – 7 AM shifts.
• Willingness to travel and adapt to different healthcare environments.
• Ability to attend orientation and complete all required competency validations promptly.
