Philosophy Adjunct (Fall 2026) Location: Stafford, VA Responsibilities Plan and teach courses in a classroom environment, addressing students with diverse academic backgrounds. Conduct a daytime, in-person introductory course in Philosophy and Ethics. Use learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) to facilitate teaching, assessment, and communication. Maintain student engagement, including virtual support mechanisms in case of hybrid instruction. Assist the college or state government during emergency situations and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the specific discipline. Official transcripts required prior to final offer. Demonstrated ability to use relevant technology and learning management systems. Commitment to student engagement in online teaching environments. Technology capability (access to Wi‑Fi, computers) for remote teaching. Ability to teach in multiple modalities, including virtual. Completion of "Growing with Canvas" and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching. Prior teaching and work experience in the field. Experience with innovative online course development, synchronous and asynchronous modalities. Willingness to learn and use artificial intelligence tools. Additional Considerations Travel to all campus locations may be required.
